The 4th Global Diaspora Week

"Global Diaspora, Local Impact" highlights the vital role of diaspora communities in improving
lives in their home countries through remittances, investments, and philanthropy.

The 4th Global Diaspora  Week will focus on strengthening the ecosystem DOs need to
localize development and humanitarian efforts. By advancing an inclusive
ecosystem, GDWeek will empower DOs to
innovate, maximize impact,
and better serve their communities
for the future.

From 21 to 27 January 2025, the 4th Global Diaspora Week will comprise of
a weeklong of activities with its impact summarized at the Global Diaspora
Assembly on the 27th. Through sharing best practices and taking time
to recognize the diasporas for their efforts in humanitarian and
sustainable development, we will be exploring some of the
best diaspora coordination practices from panels of leading
DOs at the Annual Humanitarian Meeting and Global Diaspora
Assembly.

The upcoming GDWeek will go beyond being event-oriented to welcome
all ranges of Side Activities that support diasporas, including three major
capacity building side activities by our key partners as part of the support to the Global Diaspora Academy (GDAcademy). A major highlight will be the launch of the “GDTree”, a symbol of hope and collaboration at the GDAssembly. This tree, which will be grown together as one global diaspora community for all with its roots nurtured with shared values of unity, resilience and compassion and its growth watered with innovation, collaboration and exchange of ideas.

The 4th Global Diaspora Week will begin our journey to architect the global ecosystem that will enable the coordination of the global diaspora organization (DO) sector for sustainable development and humanitarian assistance.
